An industrial visit to Ruchira Papers Ltd., Kala Amb for B.Tech Mechanical students on Saturday, 24th March 2018.
An industrial visit was organized to Ruchira Papers Ltd., Kala Amb for B.Tech Mechanical students of TERII on Saturday, 24th March 2018. This is an integrated Pulp and Paper Mill which produces 400 MT of writing, printing and Kraft paper per day.
The process of paper production is very interesting and the students were thrilled to see a large mill. The students were able to see the running boilers and an in-house captive generation 6 MW power plant.
Students could see the workshops where mechanical maintenance of various equipments such as centrifugal pumps, compressors, gear boxes and vacuum pumps is done. This way students were able to correlate with what they have studied in the class. One can register themselves for this course at www.terii.in/registration
Lubrication is an essential activity and an oil seal is required to stop wastage of costly lubricant. Students were shown the oil seals on various equipments, which no one had seen earlier but only read in theory. Various types of Ball and Roller Bearings used in industry were also shown.
In a nutshell, exposure to a big industry gives the real knowledge to an Engineering student.
