Nowruz or Navruz or Persian New Year or Iranian New Year – is celebrated on March 21st as the first day of spring and renewal of nature as it makes the end of the old and emergence of the forthcoming year.

Like most of the festivals, TERiians celebrated this day with warmth, as this year Nowruz not only marks new year but also a new century.

Traditional celebrations start about three weeks before the actual vernal equinox. A variety of cuisines, new clothes, decorating the house, meeting the neighbor, and sharing the meals are the way to celebrate the day. As per rituals, families throw out the wheatgrass to eliminate the negative energies from their houses and lives. The significant part of the Nowruz celebration is having Haft Seen (Seven S). A table is set up with seven items whose names start with the letter ‘s.’

TERiians feel blessed and gratitude to be among a handful of people to celebrate and experience the transition of two centuries in two different cultures.
